Hello there, newsletter dwellers!
You may recall a couple of ‘sletters1 ago that I said I would occasionally throw up And Another Thing posts as wee, fun breaks between the main Finishing School nonsense. So, here’s another.
This time’s Another Thing relates to the audio series project I keep referencing in Finishing School. The initial concept for This Is Elderhaven dates back to 2014 with a bunch of story ideas and images that I intended to turn into a weird fiction podcast…stuff like this:
But, as with so many projects, it went by the wayside. Mostly because I couldn’t quite figure out how to make the story I had in mind work.
The idea sat around in me noggin’ for some time and then a few years ago there was an opportunity to read a piece of fiction at a Spoken Word event in Galway, Ireland. I wound up writing a new piece which was connected to the early ideas I had for This Is Elderhaven.
This sort of unlocked something in my brain that helped me to figure out how I could make This Is Elderhaven work as a larger audio project and the directions it could go in…which I’m in the process of making right now.
I thought it’d be fun to share a recording2 of that short story with you (the thing at the top of this ‘sletter). It’s called Seaweedside.
